what is best way to work on Illistrator files, locally or across network shares?
Do not try and edit anything on a network
Premiere and Premiere Elements do not work properly with a network
-you may NOT "map" your My Documents folder to a network drive

These threads were helpful, but I forgot to mention that we are on Mac Pro workstaions connecting to a Win 2003 server. I did not do the orginal set up so I am assuming any scratch dir's are still local on the workstaion.
Do I need to move the scatch dir to the server to make the files load quicker? The end user is complaining that to open a file takes a long time, they are not giving me a time frame though. The server in on a different Vlan the the workstation and the pipe is 50 megs, to which at peak use is only hitting 15 megs at most?
Now we have asked the group to copy the files local and work on them from there, then copy the changes back to the server. Their contention is that the copying down then back up will take too long and they would rather open the file from the server and work off that.
