Hi,
My apologies if this is the wrong forum for the question.
Is it possible to generate print quality (e.g. 300dpi) artwork PDFs from an online application?
Scenario:
I want to build a business card design application that generates print-quality PDFs so that customers can design their own business cards online, pay for them, and they get sent to a print department as a PDF for printing. It will be high volume and it is expensive for our studio to intervene and turn low resolution artwork into print files for each unit.
Many Thanks
Ben
Hi Jacob,
Thanks for replying but that is not really what I mean. We have circa 100 business card templates in Illustrator AI and PDF format (all at print quality).
We want to build an online application that customers can use to design their own business cards using these templates (similar to vistaprint.co.uk). They choose the text, position, typeface, and the template background.
What I would like to do is either:
a) Have the website generate print-quality artwork that can be used by our studio to quickly run print jobs.
or
b) Have the website generate instructions that can be translated by our studio into artwork without much intervention e.g. by receiving an XML document with all the customer preferred details (incl. position, font size/col, etc) and putting that into something like InDesign.
I can generate low res images using javascript that the customer can sign off. But the real cost for our business is at the artwork processing end.
We use the CS6 suite.
Many Thanks
Ben
