I tried uploading some HD test videos to Vimeo from Elements 10, using their guidelines. 1920x1080, H.264, Quicktime, rendered in Premiere, export for computers. Link:https://vimeo.com/user13081614/videos. The playback is pretty bad, not HD at all, full of artifacts. They say my uploaded original contains the errors, although they cannot say why, as the metadata is fine. When I open those .mov files in Premiere, they, indeed, look terrible. Are there any known issues with this situation or can you advise what I should do differently?
Don't forget that your project must be set up properly also in order to get good output results. What model of camcorder is your video from and what format and resoution is it? When you set up your Premiere Elements project, which settings did you select? If you selected the correct settings, you will NOT see red lines above your clips when you add them to your timeline. Is that the case in your project?
Assuming your project is set up correctly, my recommendation for output settings for Vimeo are Share/Computer/AVCHD with preset select for HD For Vimeo.
Thanks to Steve and John for the responses. The source is a Canon 5D2 and Elements was set up to match the native resolution. Vimeo recommends Share/Computer/Quicktime, but, following Steve's suggestion, I switched to AVCHD and the results were much better. I'm surprised there aren't more of these issues, since I was following Vimeo's guidelines. If anyone wants more details, let me know. Thanks again!
