How to hear a recorded file Audition?

I can't hear anything I've recorded in Audition.  I know its recording, because I can see the wave form moving as I record, and as I play the file.  But I hear no sound.

Just to make sure my hardware is OK, I downloaded Audacity and recorded a file and played it back.  No problem!

But Audition, NO WAY!

I'm using the m-Audio Fast Track Pro.  I've got it set as the ASIO device, and a see the m-Audio device when I do.  However, there's no way to map playback to the speakers.

But I don't see an option to send to speakers in Audition unless I change the Device Class to MME, which disables the mAudio device.  Nevertheless, I don't get any monitor from the m-Audio box's headphone jack OR the sound card.  By the way, this exact same problem occurs in Premiere when I try to monitor something I record there.

Could someone please clarify how this is SUPPOSED to work?

Do you see both M-Audio Inputs and Outputs in the Audio Hardware and Audio Channel Mapping pages of Audition's Preferences? What do you see listed there?

You can configure channel output assignments under Edit > Preferences > Audio Channel Mapping.  Audition likely defaulted to 1/2.
