I have developed a plugin in Visual Studio 2008 adding a context button to call an external application. I have Acrobat X on a computer without SDK and I copied the file.api into the plugin´s directory. However not being installed in Acrobat. How can I install my plugin.
Thank you very much for your help.
Only some of the DLLs are redistributable, the others are licensed only for computers licensed for Visual Studio. Your project settings may affect this.
Also, redistributing DLLs can cause DLL hell for your customers. Better to use settings so that your API (DLL) is completely static i.e. self-contained.
I recommend you cross license one of these products, it will be VERY hard to debug a crash unless you can run them both on the same machine.
It's the same issue for plug-ins as face developers of any software with Visual Studio. It should be covered in the Visual Studio documentation. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/8kche8ah(v=vs.100).aspx gives more info for VS 2010.
There are things you can do
- never deploy a debug version (crucial! You cannot redistribute the debug DLLs!)
- select Static options wherever you have the choice in the project settings
Could I use for solving this problem case 2 in article http://qualapps.blogspot.cz/2008/07/visual-studio-2008-c-redistributab le.html?
