Installed OS10.8 now all CS5 apps crash constantly including when sitting in background,  ran Disk permissions & Repair - no effect,  reinstalled CS5 deleted prefs  - no effect

    In another thread, some people's crashing problems have been fixed in Mountain Lion by installing the 10.8.1 update released Thursday, 23 August.

    Try creating a new user, and see if you can launch your applications there. You may have accumulating files in your current user which are keeping the CS5 apps from installing. Running in a new user may get around that problem.

     

    If you have installed earlier versions of Creative Suite, you can use the Adobe Cleaner tool to remove components from past versions: Adobe - Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool

    Disable Suitcase Fusion 3 and move any further InDesign discussion to the InDesign forum.
