I'm trying to install the GuideGuide extension for CS5 and keep getting the "Not a valid signature". I installed the patch that claims to fix the problem, but it's not working. What else can I do so I can get this extension working? Please help!

OS X Lion 10.7.4, Photoshop CS5 12.0.4 x64, Extension Manager CS5 5.0.334

You said you had installed the patch, but the version of Extension Manager (5.0.334) indicated that you have NOT installed the patch. After update the version should be 5.0.2.27. Please download and install http://download.macromedia.com/pub/dw_exchange/extension_manager/mac/A dobeExtensionManager_5_0_2_mul_AdobeUpdate.dmg then retry. This link can be found at http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/. You can also use Adobe Application Manager to update many Adobe products to the latest version.

    Hi Kemch,

Extension Manager 5.0.3 update is for Mac 10.8 only. That is why Adobe Update does not show it on your side. The version you are using is 5.0.334, which is  older than 5.0.2.27. So it is not rolling back, but upgrading.

One thing we want to confirm with you is, was your issue( "not a valid signature" ) sovled after you installed 5.0.2.27? If the issue was solved, it means the update works. We will try it on our side to make sure if it is a general issue. Thanks.

Have you ever deleted any files (such as localized resource files) under Extension Manager folder? There has been some users failed to apply update because of this reason. You can generate update log file and paste the file here.

    1. Open a Terminal window.

    2. Run command: cd /tmp

    3. Run command: touch ribs3debug

    4. After that a new file named "ribs3debug" should have been created in /tmp folder.

    5. Update Extension Manager, via Adobe Application Manager or running updater installer manually.

    6. The new log file "/Library/Logs/Adobe/Installers/Adobe Extension Manager CS5 xxx 08-24-2012.log.gz" will be created. (xxx is the version number)

    7. Unzip the actual log file from this file.

    Hi Kemch,

From your log, we found following errors:

ERROR: DW050: The following payload errors were found during install:

ERROR: DW050: - Adobe Extension Manager CS5_5.0.2_AdobeExtensionManager5.0All: Patch already installed

It means the patch installer found that you already have 5.0.2 patch installed, so the patch could not be installed again, although you still got the wrong version number 5.0.334. One possible solution is, install Extensoin Manger CS5( http://www.adobe.com/exchange/em_download/em50_download.html ) in another Mac10.7 device, and then installed Extenion Manager CS5.0.2 patch( http://download.macromedia.com/pub/dw_exchange/extension_manager/mac/A dobeExtensionManager_5_0_2_mul_AdobeUpdate.dmg ). Then copy "/Libary/Application Support/Adobe/Extension Manager CS6" to your Mac to replace the Extension Manger you installed. After that, you can lauch Extension Manger to see if it works.
