There is no such thing as an Adobe Acrobat Reader. There is an Adobe Acrobat (paid), and an Adobe Reader (free; prevously Acrobat Reader). If what you had was the free Reader, my suggestion would be to eliminate it and freplace it with the newest version compatible with your OS.
