DPS Update makes pages jittery

Pardon the un-technical term, but I'm working on a project with a mix of smooth scrolling and static, vertically-navigable articles. Before updating my DPS tools and the Content Viewer app, everything worked fine. But now, multi-page articles seem jumpy when I swipe to advance between page views on my iPad 3 (the app was built only for retina display). It takes a few tries to swipe down to the next page. Oddly, two-page articles don't seem to have this problem. I'm only seeing it when articles are 3+ pages.

 

Any ideas??

    Really need to figure this out ASAP... Trying to finish a project that took far longer than we budgeted for. Everything else was done, and all of a sudden pages are not transitioning smoothly like they were before.

    This is a known issue with v22 viewers. We will be addressing it with a fix in v23.

    Hi Neil,

     

    Two questions for you:

     

    1. Do you happen to have a more concrete release date for v23? My client is eager to submit this app to iTunes. They have a trade show on 9/27 and would really like to show off the public version at that time.
    2. We plan to release the app as a Single Edition. What does the updating process look like if we submit a v22 app to Apple's reviewers, but with the hope of having a bug-free v23 update as soon as possible? Do we have to pay the Single Edition publishing fee every time we submit the app for Apple's review? I've gone through a similar submission process before, but not with the DPS. I really hope we don't have to pay to submit a v23 update, when it's due to software issues outside of our control.

    1. Not one that I can share at the moment, but 9/27 would be risky if you wanted to use v23. I'm factoring in how long it generally takes Apple to approve submitted items, and if my calendar math is right you would be cutting things very, very, close.

     

    2. I'm honestly not familiar with how we handle Single Edition updates. I do know that from past threads here people have reported success in publishing minor updates/bug fixes to SE applications without having to pay again, but I don't really know how that all works.

    Wow, thanks for the quick reply! In light of this, is it possible for us to revert to v21 for the initial submission to Apple? I don't recall encountering any issues with that version.

    You can certainly create folios that target v21 using the viewer version option in the new folio dialog when creating the folio. I believe Viewer Builder will let you target that viewer version as well for Single Edition, but I haven't tried it.

    Thanks. I see the Viewer Version option under Folio Properties for the one we've already created. But it won't let me choose a different version from the pull-down. Does this only work when creating a new folio?

    Correct, has to be on folio creation. Can't change it after the folio was created

    You can use properties to specify a later viewer version (such as from v20 to v22), but not an earlier one.

    Thanks, guys. We'll probably go this route – the jittery page transitions are really distracting and would be a wet blanket at the client's trade show.

     

    I suppose we can build a new folio from our existing files. Maybe it'll go faster than the first time around.

    I just checked viewer builder and unfortunately it looks like you can only create viewers back to version 22, not 21

    Hmm, I just clicked "New Folio" and I have options for v20, 21, and 22.
