No sound in video on AE

I have recorded a video, and when I play it on Windows Media Player, theres sound and the video is ok, but when I go to AE and drag my video into a composition and play it the video plays w/o sound. Please give me a suggestion on how to fix this. Thanks

Hold down the command key while scrubbing the head, it will play the audio (but it will be choppy) ... the only other way is to ram preview the whole sequence with audio

After the RAM preview what do I do, I hear the sound with the RAM preview, but without it I don't.
