Print to booklet

I need help with a project. I'm preparing a magazine to go to the printer for Friday.

I've set it up as 8.5x11" facing pages in indesign. with 1/8" bleed.

It is to be printed on 11x17" paper - saddlestich.

I've been using "print to booklet" to prepare my document for the printer but i can't seem to get it to work...

After the .ps file is created, I open it with Distiller, and the spreads aren't fitting on the 11x17" paper.

Any help would be greatly appreciated or any links to help...

This isn't a job I've done before but the usual designer is unavailable unexpectedly so I've been tasked with this.

Why are you doing the printer’s job? Export a PDF and let him do it.

Nope. Sequential pages is what he wants unless he says differently. Sending imposed spreads is a headache for everyone.

Creating imposed pages assumes that you know all the details of the commercial printer's press setup, including what press he/she is running the job on.

Print Booklet is for the small number of people who have their own printers or small presses and who don't want to invest in more expensive imposition equipment. Most people should not have to use it.
