I'm using RoboHelp 9.0.1.262. Is it possible to use the "Find" function to find text in an entire project? I have only been able to use it to find text in individual topics within the project. This would be very inconvenient to have to go to each topic to do the search.
It looks like you need Edit > Find and Replace in Files.
Whatever you are doing, make a backup first.
Be aware that the search only works across single lines in the topics so if your string is spread over two lines, it will not get found.
FAR is a shareware program that is always recommended in these forums for better results.

I looked into the FAR shareware and it appears to be another HTML editor. I'm not sure why you've suggested this.
Anyway, when I use a "Find" function in any other program, I am brought to the actual location where the text resides (as expected). The "Edit > Find and Replace in Files" function in RoboHelp uses a separate field to display the text that it has found, but does not bring me to the actual location in the topic where the text resides. Beyond that, just to start searching requires browsing to the location of the folder where the project files reside. This is cumbersome and doesn't perform as expected. How is it possible that this program, touted as the industry standard, does not have the simple, common ability to search through the entire current project to find text? The "Edit > Find and Replace in Files" function doesn't even allow for pasting the desired text in the "Find" field. It must be manually entered. I don't understand how this all can be.
FAR shareware is just another text editor - HTML files are all just text, so it can act as an HTML editor too (just like Notepad if you really wanted).
RH's Find/Replace tools are lame - that's why you were pointed outside the RH circle to use a more specialized tool to massively hack your files.
Most text editors have the same problem, their search is not multi line.

I'm not sure I would quite agree with saying the RH Find and Replace is lame or that FAR is just another text editor.
The RoboHelp Multi File Find and Replace has a serious limitation but it is one that is common. Most text editors do not search across multiple lines as I said.
FAR is not something I would regard as a text editor, more a compilation of authoring tools. Just today it save me a whole lot of work by being able to extract an HHC file from a CHM so that I could then get it into a RoboHelp project I had inherited with a wrecked TOC.
