APK package name issues with new viewer builder release

Aug 28, 2012 9:57 AM

Neil,

I've run into a strange error on one of the apps I'm updating.  The other apk files uploaded successfully to Google Play, however this one gives the following error message:

The upgraded apk's package name (air.com.publisher.publication.A0412) must be the same as the one it is replacing (com.publisher.publication.A0412).

I double checked the Application ID in Viewer Builder and it's the same as before com.publisher.publication.0412.  Obviously I've replaced my customer's specific information with placeholders.

Any ideas as to why this may be happening?  There was an Air update that I installed when installing the new Viewer Builder, but that was before creating any of the apk files that I uploaded today.  The others apk files are uploading without this error.

Andrew

in past, viewer builder added before each string (com.publisher.publication) own prefix, "air."

So now i think that you need to go to viewer builder and add this "air." in fron of your string.

Splitting into a new thread since this is a different issue than the one originally reported.

    Andrew,

I asked around, and the suggestion was to make 100% sure you have the latest version of viewer builder. Would you mind uninstalling your current version and then re-install from the DPS dashboard? Then try rebuilding the viewer and let me know what happens.

    Thanks,

    Neil

    Andrew,

At this point I think you should call Gold Support. They can either assist or raise the issue internally if they determine there is a bug impacting your ability to create the app. You can find Gold Support contact information at the bottom of your DPS dashboard main page.

    Andrew,

Can you try to create a "New" viewer using the Viewer Builder, then just replicate your previous viewer? I'm curious to know if the new app is still seeing this rogue "air."

    Thanks,

    Andrew

I ran into the same issue today and after some trouble shooting I found that deleting and re-typing the application ID in seems to fix the issue.
