why does "copy with formatting" take so long

I have a 5000 + page doc and I need to export specific tables out of specific pages. Very tedious. What's worked most accurately has been to "copy with formatting" but each time it takes about 10 sec's before I can proceed to excel to paste. I have a 6 core system with 16 GB's or ram. I was just curious why this operation would take so long.

    Have you ever checked how much free memory there is after you have loaded a 5000 page document? That may be the issue in that it is using virtual memory.

    Thanks for the reply Bill!

     

    I'm currently only using 5MB of my 16 available. I've even tried extracting just 100 pages out of the 5000 and it still takes a long time.

     

    Ideas?
