I desperately need (or want) two things:
1) a simple number scheme on top of the thumnails, 1,2,3 etc, so I can say to the client, "check out, 1,2,3, &... etc without having to open the image to it's larger preview.
2) A way to color label the thumbnails to make your selects stand out.
Did I miss this? thanks.
What options you have/don't have depend on which Layout Style you are working with. The answer I provide are when working with the Lightroom HTML Gallery Layout Style:
1. This is already there, the numbers are in the upper right of the thumbnail (depending on the frame size of you images it may partially cover up the number).
2. Under the Color Palette rollout, change the color of "Rollover".
Thanks Brett, nice tips. Dang, the gallery I've made which I like does not have the numbers, but I could make a new one with numbers.
#2, Rollover is not what I was asking. I am asking if there is a way to color label special selects. Let's say you wanted 5-6 to have an obvious red labe.
Color labels the way you are asking aren't really possible with the way these pages are coded. Because we are using tables, each cell has the same attributes. You'd have to go outside of Lightroom for higher end HTML editing.
While you can apply color labels to your images in Lightroom, these labels do not transfer to the Web, it's purely organizational informtion. You can add Captions (diplay below the image) and Titles (display above the image) to your images (and each of these is customizable to what piece of metadata it displays), but this only shows up after you have already clicked on an image to get the larger view, it does not modify the default grid view. These options are under the Image Info rollout.
P.S. Displaying sequence numbers is an option under the Appearance rollout: "Show Cell Numbers".
Look at The Turning Gate web galleries, they are amazing and you can use the coloured tags on the thumbnails, and suggest exactly that to your clients, you can also number the cells or leave the photo name (number) below the thumbnail for suggesting "look at photo 2,3,4 etc"
Certain web galleries allow clients / friends / users to tick and comment on the galleries - and submit a selection back to you
I use them all the time for my clients and they are utterly invaluable.
Hamish, thanks, I took a peek a while back, and there was no customor service at all, and it seem a bit clunky. Not as good as LR galleries.
I remember you said you are open to help, so I wont rule it out, but am bit soured by the first peek.
Hi Kevin, sorry to hear you are still having issues, did you try the forums, Matt from TTG is always on them and maybe that is a better way of communication. I've never had an issue in getting help that way.
They may not be "as good" as LR Galleries, but they do what you ask above.....
Hamish, thanks, I'm a qualilty guy, so that one remaining feature to label, is not cricital enough yet to have to learn a whole new softare -- espcially since LR is so great at galleries. But never say never.
