How to open files of RoboHelp5 in RoboHelp7? Do I need to convert them to an upgraded version of RoboHelp7, so that they don't get corrupted? If yes, what is the process?

Hi there

Incredibly tough and convoluted!

Follow these steps very carefully!

1. Make backup copy of project.

2. Open RoboHelp 7.

3. Click File > Open and navigate to the project database.

You might need to click Tools > Update DHTML Effects in topics.

Whew!

Cheers... Rick

Rick,

I am just 24 hours old in RoboHelp, so please bear my silly questions... My next question is:

How to convert RoboHelp5 files to RoboHelp7? Is there a way to upgrade them, or the steps explained by you in the earlier post will suffice this part?

Thanks for all your help,

Hi,

The steps that Rick pointed out will suffice. Just be sure to take special note of step 1: Make sure you have a backup.

After opening the project with RoboHelp 7, click Tools > Update DHTML effects in topics. This will update drop-downs etc and perform various cleanups.

But before you do, make a backup of the X5 project. (Really, I can't say this enough.)

Greet,

Willam

Did anyone suggest making a backup first?
