iPhone Renditions

Aug 31, 2012 3:45 AM

All my templates are retina size (640x960) and I've published a folio of this size. I've just been told I need to do a pre-retina version.

Is there a fast way of doing this?

I know you can upsize rendtions but can you downsize?

Or am I going to have to physically scale down each layout?

Yes, you can use the same 640X960 document to upload it for 320X480 as well. As long as the aspect ratio of the document remains the same, DPS will upscale and downscale it for you.

If you doubt the resolution because of the upscale and downscale, you might want to quickly re-design your document using the CS6 Alternate layout feature

iPods and iPads have the capability to re-scale the content provided they maintain the same aspect ratio. Now the problem that you will face is that while viewing your folios in iPod 3GS, your folios may hang or crash (Due to computation limitation of the device) and also some overlays may look a little out of place, thus test your folios on iPod 3GS before you actually publish the content live.

You don't need to create new articles, but you should create a new folio rendition. Create a 480x320 folio and import your HD articles. Make sure that you use the same Folio Name values for the two renditions.
