Why did the image resize feature suddenly stop accepting pixels as units?

I have always resized objects in PSE using pixels.  All of the sudden, pixel option is no longer available when I try to resize.  I can select columns, inches, picas, etc. but not pixels????

    The Image Size dialog box has two sections: Pixel Dimensions and Document Size. You can only resize by Pixels in the Pixel Dimesnions area (in all versions of the product). The items you've listed are what's available in the Document Size section. If you are unable to make changes to the Pixel Dimensions section, turn on the option "Resample Image" at the very bottom of the dialog box.
