He was last here four days ago. It's every user's choice if and when to visit, and speculating in public about someone's private affairs is no good for anyone.

I think it s a high compliment to Harm that participants in this forum enjoy his presence and are a bit concerned when he is gone for a while. Im sure he would be flattered by your concern CV.

Harm has been very busy with the new Premiere Pro Benchmark program and Web site. This has taken most of his time, as some major changes are being made to improve both the benchmarking and reporting of the program w/ test files, but also Web design work, to make it easier to review the results from others' machines.

In my last correspondence with him, he indicated that he and his family were doing just fine, and that he was MIA, due to the hours that he had committed to that PPBM program.

I am certain that he will be pleased that you inquired about him.

    Jim,

You are not alone. I feel certain that when the PPBM program, and new Web site are done, we will see him a lot. It is turning out to be a very large project, and has been taking a lot of his time. However, everyone will benefit from his, and Bill G's, hard work.

A couple years ago when I first started in adobe forums I made the huge mistake of writing ( posting ) asking for Harm Mallard's help.  He wrote back, " I'M NOT A DUCK YOU IDIOT ! CAN'T YOU SPELL MY NAME RIGHT ?? !!! "

hehe...ever since then I've not been able to get the picture out of my head that although he is not a duck, he probably has some duck pets !

    Guys,

I have taken a leave of absence here. As for the reasons why, just ask Terri Stone, she knows why. I have spoken with two Adobe employees (who are regulars here) and several others today at the IBC and they all urged me to come back here. I have decided to comply with their wishes, although some mods may frown on this move and may shed some tears that I'm returning.

As Bill said, I'm heavily involved with the design of the PPBM6 site and it is quite a challenge. It is a complete redesign of the PPBM5 site and nothing like it. In a separate post I will fill you forum users in on this and explain the difficulties I'm facing and why it takes so long. Meanwhile PPBM5 is still the resource to use, also with CS6.

Well, speak of that "Dutch Devil," and here he is!

    Harm,

So nice to see you about. Obviously, you have been missed, and I hope that the PPBM project is going well. Best of luck with that.

I think CoredVideo deserves a gold star and a free yoodle in the lounge for bringing up the subject of Harm's absence so quickly to our attention.

This coors lite is for YOU CoredVideo !

I'm so glad to see Harm respond even if it's a bit cryptic to me.. I mean, after all, if a large DUCK landed on my shoulder I would think immediately of Harm, but otherwise I would just shuffle my feet and look at the ground and mumble stuff to myself most days.

Good to hear from you Harm !

    Lets be honest about this...

I enjoy when folks have something helpful to add  to the dialog.

What I dont appreciate is mean spirited, unpleasant remarks.

I welcome all to this forum in hopes of more of the former and none of the latter.

Would you care to share with us what you saw there regarding Premiere Pro CSS6?

The most promising demonstration for Cloud users was http://success.adobe.com/microsites/adobeanywhere.html

It was shown with HD material off a server in Hamburg, Germany and the bandwidth required for fluid HD media is surprisingly light.

I kind of like that about Harm sometimes.  He has the guts to say what I'm thinking.

But that's not how these forums will be run going forward. Think the rude & mean-spirited thoughts all you want, just don't post them here.

    News for you:

I bought some more components for my new system, 'Harm's Monster' and it appears that it may break the bank.

It cost me not an arm, but a leg, so maybe I should rename the system 'Harm's One Legged Monster'. Look at the Price Tag and you can imagine I'm not that happy... and certainly not in a situation to buy you a SSD.

    Harm,

Somehow, I need to get my name up near the top of the "Hand-me downs of Harm's worn out super computers" list.

Good luck with the "New Beast." Other than the price, it will be fun to look at, and drool over. Maybe you do like some of the high-end restaurants, and list the components, without a price?
