Export Chapter markers lost encoding H.264

Aug 27, 2012 6:28 AM

I have a short video I have edited in PP CS5.5.  I have inserted about 10 chapter markers.  I then export to H.264 (ipad is the intended target).  The video looks great but when I hit the next chapter button on the ipad, it does not move to the next "chapter point".

Any advice on a workflow for including chapter markers for videos that are NOT going to be burned to a DVD or Blu-ray?

Thanks

Chapter markers are for DVD or Blu-ray only.

H.264 doesn't support cue points as used in FLV. It can have marker information in the file header but very few applications take any notice of it.

You'd normally achieve what you're talking about using Flash, but that's not an option for iOS.

iOS can support chapter markers but there is no way to add them without third party software.

Adobe ADD chapter marker export in h264 its been missing too long, in FCP its easy to add them.

Yes in Flash playback we use flv/f4v and code in cuepoints, but on increasingly client want HTML5 fall back and on iPhone (iOS defaults to full screen playback) we NEED chapter points for navigation.
