I was just about to buy Premiere CS6 and started with the trial.
Natually assuming Adobe would have the smarts to include the Cinema DNG plug-in for CS 5.5 as standard in CS6, I downloaded a sample of Cinema DNG.
You can imagine I was not happy when the file didn't import.
Worse, looking at the lab's download page I at least expected to find a CS6 download.
Nope.
Not only was there no download --- there was no announcement of DNG for CS6
So, I downloaded the 5.5 version and installed it.
It works -- sort of. I now have color control. Nice.
1) But where is the gamma contol?
2) Where is the ability to create a gamma curve?
3) Where is the Sharpness control?
4) Where is control over the deBayer process. For example, method: FAST > SLOW. Or EFFICIENCY: 60% to 80%.
5) Don't bother to use the Edit Original. In PS you get the full control panel to modify 1 image (I chose the first one), but there seems no way to get the modified image into Premiere. Perhaps the is a secret file that holds the changes.

We have not received much interest in including CinemaDNG features in Premiere Pro. If you'd like to request that we add this functionality to Premiere Pro, please submit a feature request.
In a month there's going to be a lot of us out there trying to pull CinemaDNG's into Premiere from these:

Todd, Adobe is *seriously* dropping the ball on CinemaDNG support in Premier Pro and After Effects. Like, amazingly, apocalyptically, shortsightedly...
Remember how Adobe changed still photography with DNG? Do you really want to make the case that there is no interest in the market for CinemaDNG support? Because if so, you guys aren't doing your research. I can say this both as a software user experience designer and as a photographer/cinematographer.
I agree with everyone else here--Adobe introduced CinemaDNG--so why not support it fully? Makes no sense to me. I expect the BMD Cinema Camera to be a very popular offering, and will likely spur a number of imitators. PrPro and Speedgrade need to support this ASAP--stay on the cutting edge. Don't become another Avid...
I have the Blackmagic Cinema Camera on pre-order and I too was shocked and dismayed to find that I couldn't import John Brawley's cinemaDNG files into PPro CS6 because they are not supported Todd, please explain why Adobe needs to "receive much interest" in order to support a file format that Adobe itself created. I can assure you this will lead many Blackmagic users (and there will be many) away from Premiere. A stable cinemDNG plugin or update for Premiere CS6 should be a TOP priority.
I bump for a CinemaDNG plugin as well, will prove extremely useful primarily when the Blackmagic Cinema Camera is released, the plugin may even end up being a selling point for indie filmmakers who have bought the camera and are looking for an editor that can handle such amazing images, Well, there's my contribution ![]()
Are you getting enough responses now to peak your interests? CinemaDNG is an Adobe file format that is now begining to become much more popular now due to the Blackmagic Design Cinema Camera. More Support for this file format frome those who created the file format would be greatly appreciated.
Also any acknowledgement from you all would be appreciated. You were quick to say there is not enough response for any real real response. So now that yu are getting responses we would like to know that you are taking our requests seriously.
I purchased CS6 at NAB after speaking with an Adobe rep in the booth about support for Cinema DNG. Very disappointed that Adobe who invented the format is not supporting it in Premiere. My Blackmagic Cameras will soon be here. Hopefully the powers at Adobe will correct this situation before the cameras arrive.
> Me too! Consider this an expression of my interest in Cinema DNG support in Premiere Pro and After Effects.
You can already use CinemaDNG files in After Effects. CinemaDNG comes through the Camera Raw plug-in, which is included in every version of After Effects for the past several years.
However, the performance is very poor. In fact, it's the very poor performance of CinemaDNG files that has thus far prevented the Premiere Pro team from implementing this. We After Effects users are more tolerant of slow rendering for things such as compositing/VFX work, but the poor performance makes the format essentially unusable (so far) for Premiere Pro.
If enough people submit feature requests to the Premiere Pro team to work on this, then they may determine that it's worth the extra work of trying to make it work faster.
Using AfterEffects for RAW timelapse rendering I know how slow it is with CameraRAW ... (ok, to be fair 24 MP is a bit more than the Cinema Camera)
Maybe you (Adobe) should talk to the Blackmagic Guys. With Resolve I get a decent 16-18 FPS with footage from the Blackmagic on my Retina MBP. Haven't tried with DNG timelapse sequence yet, maybe I should test how it performs with them if it's able to read them. Even if it's impractical for cool timelapse-processing working with Lightroom + After Effects but to see how fast it is.
