CS6 Clipped Gaussian Blurs

Object above is just a typical path.

 

Below is a copy with a 51px Gaussian Blur applied. (using 300DPI Raster Effects Settings)

Any prevention methods? This looks like crap.

    Go Effect>Document Raster Effects Settings and change the add 366pt around object to add 128 pts around object.

    I always select the object when chsnging this setting but do not know if it is object specific.

    Wade, thanks!

     

    I've always ignored that option. Thanks for opening my eyes to it.

     

    Any idea what it really does, though? It reminds me of how all raster elements get a bounding box if the file is saved a Non-Illustrataor Capabilities PDF, then re-opened in Illustrator.
