I have RH 10. A client has RH 9 and would like their project saved in that version as they don't plan to upgrade. They want chm output, which is fine, but can I return their changed source so that it still opens in their version? I am not seeing how to do this in RH 10, though I don't have any version 9 files to try it with. Is it possible?
Thanks,
Laurie
Hi Laurie
Ummm, stupid question here. You don't have 9? That's the best case scenario. Once you touch the project with 10, 8 will balk at opening it.
But having said that, I'm not sure there were any changes that would actually affect the topics. So you might be able to get away with giving them back only the topics you have edited. Then having them just use Windows Explorer to replace the same topics in the version 9 project. I think I'd try that approach if I were in your shoes.
And as always, backup Backup BACKUP BACK-UP!

P.S. Did I mention to make a backup? I think I did. ![]()

Gimme a few minutes and I'll post back with the results of a test. I have 8, 9 and 10 so will try my theory and feed that back.

I just tested this by taking the following steps.
Opened a project in version 9.
Created a topic.
Added an image.
Added a DHTML Drop-Down.
Closed topic.
Imported topic into RoboHelp 10 project.
Modified text on page, text in drop-down.
Added second image.
Copied topic and replaced former with edited.
Opened topic in version 9.
Result? Topic opened and RoboHelp did not utter a complaint!
