How to get duplicate photos across folders show up. Error says already exists in catalogue.

Sep 4, 2012 4:58 PM

I need help. I copied all my pictures to an external hard drive that I'd like to start using. But the problem is that when I brought the new folder location / media in Organizer any duplicate photo's I had did not import. Error says already in catalogue. I know it is but still want to see it. I've intentionally made duplicates in favorites folder so that I don't loose that kind of application data. It's weird because it was fine in the old location. A duplicate picture would show up in all folders, now just one place. These favorites folders are the ones I use most often.

I appreciate any help anyone can provide.

If you have deliberately made duplicates, and put them in "favorites" folders, its hard to understand why you want to use the Organizer in PSE at all. Seems like you would be better off just organizing as you have done via Windows. The Organizer actually provides a superior solution to this, albums and/or star ratings, which allow you to do the exact same organizing without duplicating photos. You might want to consider going down that path.

Nevertheless, there is an option in PSE that allows you to prevent duplicates from being imported, or allows duplicates to be imported. If you can tell us what version of PSE (and what operating system), we can probably tell you where that option is located.
