What email program? What computer plaform? Not all email clients are supported.

Thanks for responding Steve. Outlook is mail program and Windows 7 Ultimate is platform.

If it is a 64-bit system, be sure you have applied the updates. Be sure that Outlook is set to encode attachments. If you set it on auto, Outlook may interpret the PDF to be a 7-bit ASCII file, rather then the 8-bit binary file that it is.

Hi Bill, I have updated Windows 7 64 bit, and have looked for the encode attachments option and don’t find it except to code in uuencode format for plain text messages? I don’t find anywhere where auto code is selected.

In any case, the email function continues not to work; the mail option stays greyed out in my Adobe reader 9. Perhaps the mail function is just not available on the free program. I am able to copy pdf to the clipboard but the format is entirely different for viewing purposes. Perhaps you can recommend a slightly more than free program that downloads pdf format and then can email it as is or as an attachment. Thanks for your assistance. Dennis Tivel

Sorry, I had not caught that you were using Reader (this is the Acrobat forum). I suspect you can not e-mail from within reader in the manner you desire. You may have to ask in the Reader forum.
