If I typed an essay and hit save where would it go?

    I'm not sure I understand your question, but Adobe Reader automatically saves any changes back to the file you opened automatically. The only place the word "Save" appears in the UI is in the freehand drawing markup tool, along with a "Cancel" button which allows you to choose to add the freehand drawing you made to the PDF, or throw it away if you changed your mind.
