Help! Wanted to install this on my new PC. I had no problems originally installing it on my older PC. I have disks...but can't get past disk #1. i don't want to deactivate it from the old PC, if I can't get it back.
I'm getting nowhere fast. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Can you please try copying the install files to your desktop to check to see if you receive a disc error. If you do then it is likely your installation media has been damaged. You can download a fresh copy of the install files by following the directions listed at http://prodesigntools.com/download-adobe-cs4-and-cs3-free-trials-here. html.
Thanks for your reply Jeff. I tried to install from my desktop, but I got the same message. I'm on the site that you suggested and tried to install File 1 of the CS 4 Production Premium, and it returns: HTTP ERROR: 404 /support/downloads/dlm/main.jsp
Chasing Problems, you are getting that 404 error because you did not read the instructions properly. Please read the download instructions present on the same page and i am sure you will be able to download it without any issues.
I have the same challenge. When I download the three CS4 files from the suggested site, the downloads are not application files and won't extract?
Since my first post I edited the file extensions to exe and they extracted. But when I run the set up file I get the same message as before.....installation datebase is corrupt contact adobe support

I am getting the same message. I was able to download files, but when I try to run the 'Setup', I get the "installation database is corrupt..." message.
BTW, three different files downloaded, two "application" files, and one "7z" file. The "7z" file is considerably larger then the other two. The "7z" doesn't let me open it though. The other two 'unzipped' with no problem. I'm hesitant to unzip the "7z" without knowing it's ok. Is the 7z the folder I want?
I unzipped the 7z files successfully, but I'm still getting the "installation database is corrupt..." message.when I try to run the Setup. Could this be because I have Windows 7? 64b machine?
Jeff, I have exactly the same issue. Everything unzipped and looks like the same file structure as on my old machine. I first took my original install files and it gave me the first message. Them I followed instruction re the trial download and have exactly the same MSG. I am also running w 7 64 bit.
My Lightroom installed perfectly, but cs4 won't run the setup file.
No idea but assume some conflict with win 7.

Download and extracting the install files is a separate issue from the error the Installation Database is corrupt. Please see Error "...Installer Database is Corrupt..." when you install Adobe Creative Suite 3 products - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-installer-database-corr upt-install-1.html for details on how to resolve this difficulty.
I have disks, and downloaded all the files for CS4 Production Premium. It's a brand new machine. The instructions for CS3, via the link you mentioned, say to delete the caps.db. I followed the directions, but I can't find caps.db. This is a clean install, would I have the caps.db?
So....I get the same message "The installation database is corrupt" whether I try to install from disks or downloaded files.
Problem solved. Mine was a new machine and came with Adobe premiere elements 10 installed. I went into program/adobe/adobe elements 10 directory and found a caps.db file. Renamed to xcap and wallah….cs 4 installed no problem.
Thanks Jeff re the caps file, I did not see that conflict mentioned anywhere on corrupt install info. The new machine bit me as I knew I didn’t have cs3 installed!
Good luck Chasing Problems. Odds maybe that you have an adobe preinstall on yours as well. Simple fix once you know it.
grrrhhhh..... Got sooooo excited reading that this worked for you. Unfortunately, I installed PE 10 last week!!! So, I followed what you did 75Sierra...changed the caps file to xcap. No luck. Still getting the same message. This happens with both the disks and the download.
YAY!!!!!!! There was also a caps.db in a backup folder in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Backup. Once I changed the name in that one, to quote you..."wallah….cs 4 installed no problem".

I contacted Adobe support for my "Installer disk is corrupt" problem and they (from India) told me that they don't support CS4 and I was on my own. Thankfully I checked here and found that caps.db file solution and renamed it and was able to install. I normally feel for companies that get hacked but I won't feel anything anymore after this.
