How do I split an object into two/three separate shapes?

Hi guys,

 

I'm trying to split an existing object into two or three separate shapes (please take a look at the attachment) with CS6. Want to cut it along those white pathes. Can anyone tell me to deal with this?

    You could take a look at the shapebuilder tool, live paint or the pathfinder panel.

    Hi guys,

     

    Thank you! Dividing objects doesn't actually work in this case, but possibly I'm doing it wrong somehow. Anyway, I made it with live paint tool.

    With Divide Objects Below you need to select each white path (and nothing else), then apply.
