Am using AdobeReader X. Subscribe to magazine that comes as a pdf. When I download the low-resolution magazine, all works fine. I typically download the High-resolution magazine and sometimes I get the following Adobe Reader X error: "The file is damaged and could not be repaired. Local\EWHf@8'))%@" When I contacted the magazine the woman says she's had no calls about this error or any other problem with the high-res downloads.

Thank you very much for contacting me.
The OS I'm using is Windows XP, Home Edition, Version 2002, Service Pack 3
Adobe X (10.1.1)
I subscribe to an online magazine. Every month, I get an E-mail with this link:
http://www.monitoringtimes.com/MT/html/download_issue.html
I click on that link and click on the current month's magazine (September 2012) and a login message appears which requires a USER Name
And PASSWORD
What occurs next is you are asked to AGREE or DO NOT AGREE with the download. I click AGREE
The next thing that happens is I'm asked whether I want the Low Resolution or High Resolution version. While I have NO problem downloading the LOW Resolution version, my current problem (that I wrote you all about) is downloading the HIGH Resolution version.
After clicking on the High Resolution version, the screen goes black (the lower portion) and remains that way for a while (MUCH longer than when you ask for the LOW Resolution version of the magazine) and then, finally, I get
Adobe error: "Adobe Reader X" and "The file is damaged and could not be repaired. Local\EWHf@B'))%@"
I'd like to give you the link(s) but I signed a statement that I wouldn't (a condition of the subscription). The important factors are:
I CAN download the smaller file (LOW RESOLUTION) but NOT the HIGH RESOLUTION (larger file size). MOST of the downloads have been the HIGH RESOLUTION and never had any problems. Yesterday was my first such problem. I had several issues to download and hoped to download the HIGH RESOLUTION as I'd always done and while MOST were downloaded just fine, there were two (2) months of the magazine where I COULD DOWNLOAD the LOW RESOLUTION version but NOT the HIGH. The publisher claims they've had no calls about the editions I've had problems with.
Finally, I am using the laptop I always use and am at work using it where I get a VERY strong signal from VERIZON for my USB Modem which is how I get onto the Internet.
Does any of this help to "Point the Finger" at something?
Thanks very much.
Ken

Hi Ken,
Thanks a lot for the information provided.
Since, I do not have the credentials to login into the site provided, I tried to view the Free versions and was successfully able to view the October,2011 PDF at High Res at my end using Reader 10.1.4 (http://www.monitoringtimes.com/MT/html/free_issue.html).
Could you please try updating your Reader installation to version 10.1.4 by doing a simple Help > Check For Updates transaction from within the Reader application.
Hopefully this should solve your issue.

Ankit,
I apologize if I've misunderstood your name as my intention was to use your first name. I hope I have. I will try the newer version of Adobe X and will report back as soon as I've tried downloading the two editions of that magazine that I was not able to download. Seems odd that I'd have no problem downloading the majority of the 2012 magazines (except for May (I believe) and September 2012) all in HIGH RESOLUTION, but will try again once I get the most current version of Adobe Reader. Thank you again!
Sincerely,
Ken

I'm not sure what you are asking but I've never had any problems with opening, saving, saving as, etc. pdf documents. When I want to view a .pdf I double-click on the file name and voila, it opens.
In this case, I'm a subscriber to a magazine that offers hi resolution versions or low resolutions. I normally have downloaded the high resolution versions and had NO problems until recently when I went to download the March 2012 and September 2012 editions. Today, I tried to download the March edition TODAY and had no problems. I figured I'd try the last edition that gave me a fit, the September 2012 edition but no go. I get the error message again. When I tried to download the Adobe Reader 10.1.4 I had some problems but THINK I was able to download ok. I'm presently shutting off the laptop but plan to boot again to insure that I really DID download the 10.1.4 successfully. I'll write again once I boot again and check which version I have in my laptop. After downloading 10.1.4 successfully (according to the message on the screen) I went to my desktop to look for the icon but didn't see it. I will try to find where I downloaded the Reader as I thought I was putting it in my Programs folder in an Adobe folder within but didn't see it. Will look again later.

That simply means that the file gets corrupted during the download. To correct this, clear your browser cache and try again. Or download the PDF to your local disk, and open it from there.

Would you please tell me how to do what you've recommended? What still bothers me is that in the past, I never had any problems doing what I'm trying to do now. I'm anxious to try what you've suggested but I'd downloaded at least 12 to 15 editions in the past of the high resolution type (just like the two that gave me a hard time and caused me to write you all). Thanks so much for taking time out of your busy day to help me.
Sincerely,
Ken

Pat,
I've tried downloading the most current version of AdobeReader (10.1.4) which had been suggested, and the suggestion about clicking on the file to be downloaded but using the mouse to perform a "SAVE TARGET AS," but found NO difference in outcome.
My attempts to download high resolution versions of the magazine have never been an issue before (2011 and a few monthly editions in 2012 (Jan, Feb, April, June, July, August) but did have TEMPERARY problems with the MARCH and May editions but later had no problems. Still can't download the September 2012 High Res. Edition but LOW res is fine, never a problem.
Note that since I last corresponded (within the last week), I was successful in downloading the HIGH Resolution version of the MARCH-2012 Edition of the magazine but STILL cannot download the September HIGH Resolution edition of the magazine. Had NO problem downloading the LOW resolution versions of the magazine.
I'm of the opinion that it's the FILE that is the problem, not the WAY I'm downloading, but not sharp enough to be knowledgeable as to why I have that OPINION. Will wait for your reply and any suggestions yet to come from you all.
Thank you (and the others (e.g. Jive-1719428165-10lp9-2-2rf6s, Ankit_Jain, etc.) for all efforts to help me thus far.
Sincerely,
Ken
Well, I can tell you that if you use Save Target As this is done entirely by the browser; Adobe Reader doesn't get involved (and it doesn't need Adobe Reader on the computer).
So it could be the file, your network connection, a limit put on by your ISP, something else but you have progress: it isn't Adobe Reader.
Mind you, check you are seeing what I'd expect: a box should pop up showing the file is downloaded. Nothing else should change. This should first show how much is to download, then update until it has finished. Do you get this? Or an error?
