So I wondered if you could draw a rectangle in your form and fill it with a colour and then put some text on top of the construct....
Sorry Bernd I did not explain myself.
I need to build a form with a a rectangle I can preset the colour but then I need to type some text on that rectangle as instructions for someone using the form. The rectangle is part of the design and look of the form not a receptacle for data.
Bernd, I don't see that - yes you can put a text field on top of a text field but you cannot actually enter text into that text field to present to a user!! its for receiving text from a user not displaying text. So I have no idea why you set the properties to read only if all you can display is a text field with colours and borders....
yes I do, but the process you describe does not work.
Allow me to describe the steps and perhaps you can tell me what you do different:
Tools > Forms > Edit > Add New Field > Text Field
Position, Resize, Properties : Read Only; Appearance Fill Red
now seconf text field
still in edit form > Add New Field > Text Field
Position this second text field over the first one
Properties : Read Only .... now which property or object can I use to enter the instructions???
Either enter the text into the 'Default Value' on the Options tab, or enter the text into the text field before you set it to read only. If you enter the text into the Default value, it will remain if the user clears the form. If you enter the text into the text field manually, it will not remain if the user clears the form.
