Illustrator CS6 update keeps failing

Hi Having problems, installation keeps failing

 

 

 

Exit Code: 7

Please see specific errors and warnings below for troubleshooting. For example,  ERROR: DF024, DW063 ... WARNING: DS012, DW016 ...

    Have you run the cleaner tool between reinstall attempts?

    Try uninstalling again, run the cleaner tool and then reinstall.

    Hi Larry

     

    Worked a treat thankyou. Howeve the cleaner did leave some shrapnel in the applications folders, left an AI Folder with some missing files. so I cleared this out after running the cleaner and illustrator reinstalled again.

    Larry,

     

    That doesn't make sense to me... He's running the update, so why should the cleaner tool be run?

    If you look at the install fail log , then it is written

    ERROR: DF024: Unable to preserve original file at "/Applications/Adobe Illustrator CS6/Adobe Illustrator.app/Contents/Frameworks/AdobeCrashReporter.framework/Adob eCrashReporter" (Seq 1649)

    ERROR: DW063: Command ARKDeleteFileCommand failed.(Seq 1649)

     

    The payload is for the Illustrator CS6 Core 16.0.0.0 , hence it is not for the update but the core installation of the Illustrator.

     

    The reason of the fail is at the time of installation the installor was unable to preserve the original file at "/Applications/Adobe Illustrator CS6/Adobe Illustrator.app/Contents/Frameworks/AdobeCrashReporter.framework/Adob eCrashReporter" ,

     

    So , on running the Cleaner tool , the "Illustrator.app" got deleted and on re-running the installation , it worked because a fresh illustrator.app was written.

    Nasically what happends was

     

    I ran the update for Ill CS6 from the update app, the update failed

    Upon Larry's suggestion I ran the cleanup tool to remove traces of Illustrator

    Tried reinstalling

    It Failed

    Ran the cleaner tool again, and then look in the Apps folder, there was an Illustrator folder with broken files, links, etc. , so I trashed that,

    Ran the installer again

    All ok.
