CS6 - Mac & PC

Sep 8, 2012 3:36 PM

Can I run 1 copy of CS6 on MacBook Pro (64)bit (new install) and upgrade the CS3 to CS6 on a windows vista (64)bit machine?  Basicly, can I put CS6 on my two machines?    Thanks.   Rick

You have to subscribe to the Creative Cloud in order to use Photoshop on both the Macintosh and the Windows platforms for a single price.

Otherwise you need to buy two perpetual licenses, one for each platform.  The serial numbers are totally platform specific.

That is correct: two machines that are not used simultaneously.

Thanks,  I was thinking of using Parallel/Bootcamp to run the windows based version on the Mac.  I had heard you can load a copy on up to 2 different machines.   Thanks.

Yes, but only the Creative Cloud membership offers two activations on two different operating systems with the same license (including virtual machines).

If you have a traditionally licensed version, the serial number is tied to either Mac or Windows (not both). A Mac serial number is not valid on Windows. And vice versa.

    So your activation options are:

    1) Perpetually licensed with two activations on Win/Win or Mac/Mac (not Win/Mac).

To do what you want with this method, you'll have to purchase two separate copies: 1 for Win and 1 for Mac (giving you up to 4 activations - 2 x Win and 2 x Mac - in total).

    2) Cloud membership with up to two activations per membership on either operating system in any combination (Win/Win, Mac/Mac or Win/Mac) - perfect for your scenario.
