I can't install flash player upgrade

I am not the most computer literate person and have tried about 10 times now to install the latest flash player upgrade. It is driving me crazy!  I need to go to a website to get a gift certificate for a birthday for tomorrow but I can't access it! What can I do? I can't get the Gizmo guys here before lunchtime tomorrow so any hints that are in the realm of the computer non- geek would be great. Many thanks
