Synchronize two clips at start and end marker

CS4. Two clips from helicopter tour. One an outside viewing camera and the other a camera showing the inside view. Want to both camera's content in split screen. Problem is that the two clips are not the same length in time measurement. The properties of both are the same: mp4; 1280x960, 24 pixel depth, 29.97 frame rate; audio-48Khz and 16b; pixel aspect ration =1. Have a numbered marker at the time start points desired for each clip and another numbered marker for the desired end point sync. I have synchronized on the start points ok. The end point markers are 05 seconds, 24 frames between the two clips. Looks like the solution is to reduce the number of frames in the longer clip to sync the end markers without affecting the start marker s sync. Any suggestions?

    How badly would the Sequence be affected, if you just Cut out the 05:24 from the end of Camera 2?

     

    Another option would be to adjust the Speed of Camera 2, to match Camera 1.

    yikes.. aside from Bill's good ideas...

     

    I got this brain storm....since you're at 29.97 ( 30 ) fps....you need about 204 frames MORE in the clip that's short...

     

    If you manually choose frames throughout the sequence and "export frame" and then add that to project...little by little you end up padding the short clip with extra frames...and you would do that 204 times.

     

    hehe... if you spread it out over the whole thing when you "choose" to do so...you may actually end up having them both look like they are close to showing the same "action" througout...ending together etc.

     

    this might be a crazy idea though.

    Thanks Bill and able123 for your replies. Finally, got back to the project in question.

     

    I utilized the "clip-->speed/duration" and got a reasonable sync of the two video's.  I had tried this before but got thrown off. When I adjusted the long clip, the end, numbered marker did not slide with the clip. Looks like a numbered marker is fixed in a timecode position not within the clip itself. Anyway was able to get the long clip and shorter clip close enough. The start and end points seem to be close in position. Becuase of their content, cannot be sure they are exact in presentation but it appears close-enough.

    good going !   I hope the sped up clip didnt make people sound like "the chipmunks movie".

    You are correct. A Numbered Marker is fixed to the Timeline. A Clip Marker will be fixed to the Clip, and will move with it.
