After Effects Dream Effect Suggestion

Hi,

After Effects CS6

I am making a dream sequence in AE.  Would you have any suggestions for effects I can apply to my clip to give it a "dreamy" quality?  I have added glow from the sytlize preset, which is promising.  But I would like to give it more a softer feel as well.  What effects or methods would you recommend?

Thanks!

Robert

How about creating an ellipse matte to act as a vignette effect then add a fast blur. The goal is to soften the image around the sides while having the center in focus. Play around with that idea. It might be a good jumping off point for other ideas.

I not sure if the vignette matte will be saved in the animation preset. But its easy enough to copy and past it to all your other clips simultaneously

You can save any effect or any property with at least a single keyframe on a single layer as an animation preset. I keep a library of presets for my commony used procedures. I've got over 250 (made 8 yesterday for Dynamic Text animations in 3D). I save and store all user presets in a private folder in my DropBox and have an alias pointing to the folder in the default user presets location. (your default drive/your user folder/your documents folder/Adobe/After Effects CS6/User Presets)

When saving to a non standard folder AE will give you a warning, but the Alias fixes that and they show up when you select Animation>Browse Presets.  The custom presets also show up under User Presets in the Effects and Presets Panel.

If you want to have your custom presets visible when you select Animation>Browse Presets then create a custom presets folder in the Presets directory in the After Effects program folder.
