Need to break through the Acrobat X Pro activation loop...

Tags: #acrobat #loop #activation #cloud

Short:  Currently my creative cloud is stuck on some kind of activation loop with just Adobe Acrobat X Pro.

  1. Launch Acrobat X Pro (or open a PDF).
  2. Get prompt for "Creative Suite 5.5 Design Premium Trial" asking about "Licensing This Sofware", "Start Trial" or "Buy Now".  Click on "Licensing This Software".
  3. Get prompt for "Sign In Required".  It seems to be prepopulated with my info (although I have tried the "Not your Adobe ID" path as well).  Click "Sign in".
  4. Get prompt "Subscription Activated".  Click "Close".
  5. Goto #1.

I have tried:

  • Uninstalling Acrobat X Pro, restarting the computer, reinstalling the application.
  • I have uninstalled and deleted all of the findable Acrobat registry keys and files stored in user profile, restarted the computer, and reinstalled the application.
  • I have used another Adobe application, Illustrator CS6, to deactivate the the Adobe Creative Cloud and then reactivate it.
  • I have deactivated the TrendMicro AV software and the Windows Firewall and attempted to do the deactivate/activate of the Adobe Creative Cloud software.

Is there another solution that I am not trying?

    Hi Rydder2012,

Try installing the latest version of Adobe Application Manager from here:

    And then redoing the process

I have used another Adobe application, Illustrator CS6, to deactivate the the Adobe Creative Cloud and then reactivate it.

Did you try going to Help > Deactivate in Illustrator and then Help > Activate again in Illustrator, and signing in with your Adobe ID with the new version of the Adobe Application Mananager installed? I wasn't sure if this is what you meant?

I have the same problem. Pretty much any app I boot up brings up the licensing screen. It had gone a way for a while. Then I downloaded Lightroom and now all the apps bring up the licensing screen, some several times a day. Annoying.

Sorry Rydder2012, after Help > Deactivate in Illustrator CS6 I meant you needed to launch it again and use the "License This Software" button and sign in with your Adobe ID. There is no serial number associated with Creative Cloud membership.

Are you able relicense Illustrator CS6 this way?

This is happening to me too! I've removed it and tried to reinstall it and it says it's already installed and I keep getting the loop!

I too am having this problem. It looks like a bunch of other people on the forum are too. The steps suggested by Adobe don't fix it.

Has anybody managed to find a fix for this?

@Neilgdabc, I could see why you would think that based on this thread but I know the solution described here has resolved it for many people. We have this document describing the solution.

Are people that posted here still having difficulties?

    Hi David,

    Thank you for the reply.

The page you've linked to doesn't fix it. My installation is pretty standard (new PC) and the only things I can think of that might be different to other people's is that it's x64 and I'm in UK (in case it's a locale / time zone thing).

Are there any log files I can look at?

Having the same problem. It started after updating CS6 Design Web Premium. Adobe Acrobat X Pro goes on an everending Software License Activation loop.  Tried the abovementioned solutions but nothing works....

    Hi Neil,

I think I missed your reply, sorry about that, did you get it fixed?

A common issue I see for UK customers is this

Creative Cloud products launch in trial mode on non-English operating systems | CCM, CS6

    Hi SophiDanis,

It might work differently for Design Web Premium, I'd recommend posting here:

    Hi David,

The problem went away by itself after a few weeks - it must have been fixed in an update / have been a server-side issue.
