Photoshop asking me to "license this software"

Sep 11, 2012 12:26 PM

Tags: #photoshop #adobe #license #software #creative #this #in #to #me #cloud #asking

Hi I just signed up for Adobe Creative Cloud and downloaded PS CS6 and installed it but when I try to open it, I am asked to license this software. I'm not sure how to do that with Creative Cloud.

Thank you, Nate

You should be able to "License This Software" with the "Adobe ID" (and password) you used to purchase the software to begin with.

    This can occur when :

    - When you are using a wrong adobe account

    - You installed the application in different language than the one bought (verify this)

    - Host or proxy issue .

Are you on mac or win

Go to finder , under the "Go" menu click "go to folder" and tape "/etc" ,copy the Hosts file under etc on your desktop, open it and remove all lines with Adobe, save it and replace the one in etc folder by this one.

As I explained before ,look into your account ,you will see the language of your subscription,be sure you installed the same language from application manager .

    Nate,

It looks like your order hasn't finished processing yet. You should recieve an email letting you know the order has processed once it completes, after that signing in with your Adobe ID should work.

    Hi there,

I'm experiencing the exact same problem as OP. I've had CS6 installed for quite a while now (successfully), but had to do a reinstall because of issues with my graphics driver. Now reinstalled, I'm consistently getting the screen to enter the serial number. My "hosts"-file is clean.

    What should I do?

As I told you ,you must verify these points :

    - When you are using a wrong adobe account

    - You installed the application in different language than the one bought (verify this)

    - Host or proxy issue .

If all those things are verified,I advise you to call Adobe ,I think you had a payment issue.

i see you keep giving the same advice, but I have the same problem.

    • I'm logged in with the right account/ID
    • I removed the trialversion and reinstalled from Creative Cloud
    • still keeps asking me for serial number

    What to do???

    Thnx, Hermannus

Check to ensure that nothing on your system is blocking access to our activation servers, this document shows the troubleshooting steps:

Sign in or activation errors | CS6, CS5.5 Subscriptions, CS6 Perpetual

    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-network-i ssues.html

It could be firewall software or a hosts file entry etc.

the strange thing is, Illustrator doesn't have a problem. I could

continue with the version a allready had installed.

Next confirm that this site comes up okay and you don't get an object error

    https://lm.licenses.adobe.com/

If that works okay next go through the certificates section in the document I referenced.

Do you have any of the other Creative Cloud apps installed other than Photoshop and Illustrator? Is this computer running Windows 7, is it a 32 or 64-bit version?

    Some more questions for you

What kind of internet connectivity do you have, cable, DSL, etc?

Do you connect through a proxy?

Is this a stand alone home computer or a work computer on a network?

What anti-virus software do you use?

Might try closing out of everything and then temporarily disabling the ESET Smart Security 5, then launching Photoshop or  Illustrator and clicking the "License This Software" button and sign with the your Adobe ID you use for Creative Cloud

Fixed it, the issue was I had bought the english version of CC and accidentally switched to german (my mother tongue) and installed a few apps in german - which led to the problem of not being able to license them. I fixed it by reinstalling in english.

    Thanks anyway.

    Hi,

    Delete "opm.db" file from:

    Macintosh -> User -> Library->Application Support -> Adobe -> OOBE

Then launch the adobe application manager ,update it if asked and relaunch your application and activate it.

    regards,

I can't find that file in that folder.

In OOBE, their is another folder called PDApp, which contains multiple folders and files.
