Please help just started a trail , need help!!!!

I just got the trail to take over a site and I haven't had dream weaver for over 7 years. it has changed and can't get Image to load and it has ftp error not to mention one other a top the screen dramaticlly related files and i hit it and says error. so confused for a simple website. someone help me the old dream wearver was great this is so complicated.

You posted about 10 problems in a single sentence so let's look at these individually.

1. Image doesn't load - Let's see the page
2. FTP Error - What is the FTP error?
3. ""Dramatically related files" - I'll assume you mean "Dynamically Related Files" - Is your testing server running?

Thank you for responding. I am new to all this. yes you have it right you figured out my rambling.

The old website person built this I am trying to update it and see if It is workable. The old webmaster told me she coded it so it could not be updated by anyone but her hummm ?? this I am questioning.
Now my biggest problem I am connected dramatically realted files says to retry.
and I have it remote setting and test.
It says it can't upload images.
I used the old dreamweaver where I could upload and type in text this new one seems very complicated.

Html I do okay . I just haven't done this stuff for years but, html its coming back to me.

You might want to review the basics. A lot has changed in web standards
http://w3schools.com/

If you don't know any php, you might be in over your head. I don't know because I can't see the server-side code in your pages.
That might be what your web master meant by "it can't be edited by anyone else."

If you're in Design mode when you can't type in text this means the job isn't set up properly and DW can't start working for you.

I hear you with the old versions, this version forces you into code and is very obtuse on even the most basic issues. But take a deep breath, you will find help here -- if you have time and the client isn't killing you that is.

Thank you ! I just don't know if this is over my head. I don't know css and php . maybe I should find an easier program for idiots . I did change the text got it up dated . the other webmaster new it was to be a website that has to be updated all the time not sure why she did this to the poor lady.

And the webmaster new it had to be updateded all the time . I got the text updated wont let me put new photos up. I hope this is the program for me if not someone know a program for idiots. I guess I will then have to make a new site.

So far playing around with it I am getting something done. But I can't get photos uploaded. I am just playing around getting to know this complicated program. All I want is a nice site to update for travel. ugh!!! so frustrated.

What's left: how are your images doing?

You mean an easier program for non-coders, this version is all code driven even when it doesn't have to be.

Yes, I have a few other sites I built in WIX and pay them for no ad website and they look nice easy to use and update.
I think I may go that route I just can't get this down.

Hire a professional to help you. And while they're at it, have them build a CMS (content management system) for you to use.

Going to WIX at this point would be like trading a 2-carat white diamond for a cheap, dime store imitation. Not the same thing at all.

If all you have left are images, that should be easy working in the Design mode. Uploading images hasn't changed that much from the earlier versions. Let's go back to Post #1 where you were asked questions, they are important.

You shouldn't need any code at this point.

First I am doing this to save my friends business right now things are so bad I said I would jump in.
so here I go.
I want a great site for her and everything is coded already in the site and the site looks nice .
Now how do I pay someone to do this content management or can I do that at this point?
heading back to post 1.
And thank you both so much you are such a big help with this. I was going to pay for this program myself to help her out since I was told the org. webmaster used dreamweaver.

If you just started the trial, then stay and learn. You don't have that much more to do -- unless you are revising the entire site or expect constant changes that you don't have time for.

We don't know that. What if the site is dynamically driven with PHP and MySql?

I will be updating it with travel new places and cruises.
I have been playing with it and not afraid to click on as long as I don't put LOL...
Even that button I had to find what happend to publish.

this would be easier if someone could just go in and check it out. no one I know does this stuff anymore. It was so asy the old dreamweaver I could use it.

In the past, you probably worked on static (plain HTML) sites which are fairly easy to maintain in DW.

DYNAMIC sites (php & MySql) require good coding skills and a connection with the server-side database. If you have never worked with DYNAMIC sites before, you should stop what you're doing before you break the site.

Can you copy and paste the code from your index.php page into a web forum post so we can see what you're working with? Please don't use email for this, it won't work.

Use the advanced editor link >> Syntax Highlighting > Plain. This is what code looks like in the web forum.

Oh, I think DRAMATIC and DRAMATICALLY said it all quite well.
