Save an OBJ file without 3d object

Sep 12, 2012 5:00 AM

Is there any way to save an OBJ file in photoshop without a 3D object?

I'm trying to do this so I can use the OBJ file in pixologic sculptris to get a glossy skin effect. Alternatively if you know of a straight forward way I can get a glossy skin effect I'd appreciate it!

I'm not sure what you are exactly trying to do here. Sounds like an oximoron - a model without geometry. Are you perhaps trying to save a points-only OBJ or any of that? If so, the answer is no. PS will always save the mesh. If you're trying to save the textures, then nothing stops you from doing just that liek you woulds save any other image file....

Surely Sculptris has a preset of an untextured rectangular plane onto which you can map your image. Or have I misunderstood what you are trying to do?

What Conroy said... I'm still not clear what exactly you are trying to achieve. The last time I used Sculptris was before Pixologic bought it and it was a very early Alpha, but even then it already had a sphere and a cube primitive as a start shape....
