png previews missing

I recently performed a purge cache for Adobe Bridge, and I am no longer able to see my preview thumbnails for any png files. I am using Adobe Bridge CS4 on a Mac OS 10.6.8.  The thumbnail is just that white rectangle with a photo and loupe on it- I really need to see the image.

 

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have been trying to research it for a few days now. Thank you-
