Is there a way to use AcroPDF.dll in VS2010 without Reader-option "Display PDF in browser"?

Hi there,

I have VS2010 (10.0.40219.1 SP1Rel) installed on a Windows-XP machine, along with the Acrobat Reader X (Version 10.0.1). When I try to call the AcroPDF.dll without setting the Internet-Option "Display PDF in browser" in my Acrobat Reader, I get an invalidOperationException and a HRESULT E_Fail-error.

Changing back the option in Adobe Reader will fix this immediatly and the DLL works fine. But I don't want this option to be set and so I'm looking for another way to get this running.

Thank you in advance and kind regards

Thomas Hellmann

Are you following the documentation in the Acrobat SDK, or have you just dived in with  DLL you found? If the latter, I'd recommend the former.

Did you update Adobe Reader X?
