Difficulty installing update to camera raw

Sep 15, 2012 9:36 AM

I bought a new camera, but bridge could not open file.  I downloaded update (it downloaded several updates) and during installation it said to close photshop .exe.  I closed photoshop, but it gave same message.  I checked task manager and verified photshop not running.  After several attempts I cancelled and restarted the computer.  Still no luck.  It says all updates are OK, but of course it never installed so it doesn't work.  I went to Adobe website and downloaded camera raw update, but it doesn't make any sense on how to actually install it (I get the ZIP files, but then what - no guidance is provided)

We need system info and what version of PS you are actually trying to update with what version of ACR. The automatic updater will install the suitable versions - well - automatically. If you downloaded them, you simply extract the zip/ 7z files using WinZip or simialr tools and then run the setup/ updater.exe. Still, the fact remains: The updates will only install, if the version is suited for your version of PS.
