I am able to find how to set up a new website, but am confused about the best method for setting up a new website when I am redesigning an old site. Do I set up a new site with a new name? How best then do I transfer old data to the new site? Do I copy the site and then rename everything? Is there a guide?

    SiteName1 = old site

    SiteName2 = new site.

    When you get the new site layout built and fully tested, copy and paste content from old site into new site pages.  NOTE: Working in code view or split view is required.

    Also, preview in all browsers and validate your code often during development so you aren't faced with unwanted surprises later.

    Code Validation Tools

    ------------------------------------

    CSS - http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/

    HTML - http://validator.w3.org/

    Good luck!

    Links are either relative to the site root (/index.html) or the document (images/logo.jpg).  So it doesn't matter what you NAME the new site definition or the folder those files sit in.   The name is for you to easily identify which is the old site and which is the new site.
