copy & paste from Indesign into notepad/word/excel does not work any longer

copy & paste from Indesign into notepad/word/excel does not work. I can copy & paste within Indesign.

 

it drives me crazy. It used to work until Friday, now it doesn't work any longer. I've restartet my computer, reinstalled Indesign,  deleted Indesign and started with a new Indesign installation. All to no avail.

 

System: Win7 Ultimate

Indesign CS2

 

What am I doing wrong? Is there anything I can do, but a new installation of my system?

    What, besides all that uninstalling/reinstalling changed before it stopped?

     

    Have you considered using System Restore to take the system back to Thursday?

    good question - afaik nothing changed. Strange because copy & paste from other Adobe products liks Arcobat, Illustrator and Photoshop works fine.

     

    So it must be a setting within Indesign I haven't seen in 10 years I've been using it.

    No and I'm reluctant to use it. Because it must be a setting within Indesign.

    What are clipboard handling preferences set to? And please note you are in fully unsupported territory with CS2 on Win 7.

    I know - but it worked fine for the last 12 month. That's why I came here hoping to get some help...

    Edit > Preferences > Clipboard handling...

     

    If it worked on Thursday and stopped on Friday, and you didn't change anything in ID, it's probably a Windows update.

     

    You can try trashing the prefs, but as Bob said, you're lucky to even get CS2 to run. See Replace Your Preferences

    Try clearing your Temp folder:

    Hi Peter,

     

    I've checked Edit > Preferences > Clipboard handling.

     

    I've trashed my prefs and did a System Restore to last Wednesdays settings - just before the MS update.

     

    all to no help...
