So, for a week, I have been getting a lot of errors on youtube. About 1/3 of the time a video works, sometimes after a refresh. Othertimes, I get an error or if I try to change quality to HD I get an error. So far, I haven't had this problem on my linux laptop and I have yet to see anyone else have this problem. Strange thing is, it does the same on Chrome, and IE

I have tried:

  • Disabling all addons in firefox.
  • Uninstalling and reinstalling
  • Uninstalling and reinstalling from firefox from trying to view a youtube video
  • Uninstalling and installing an old version.
  • Using another browser.

are you sure the videos you are playing are in flash?  recently, some  have been playing as html5 video.  the easiest way to determine is right-clicking the movie to see if the flash player context menu shows...

if it's hardware related, you could try to disable hardware acceleration.  right-click>settings any flash content and un-select, from the first tab, "hardware acceleration..."  restart the browser to see if the issue is resolve.

another thing to try is update your graphics card driver...

what kind of error?  a browser error or the youtube player error?  a shift refresh is more brute force.  when issue starts to occur, you can try using a bandwidth test (eg. google "speed test") to see how your download speed is doing...
