When making a PDF in Indesign CS5 crashes?

Is there any way to reset the PDFs Presets in Indesign. The High Quality PDF (that is a preset already in Indesign) started to crash ages ago. I just made up new PDF Presets. Now it seems that when making PDFS whether Press Quality or the ones I have made myself it crashes. I launch Indesign then can make a PDF but then when I open another document it crashes again? Any help greatly appreciated

OS? Is your copy of CS5 updated to 7.0.4?

It says version 7. I've just deleted the Adobe Indesign preferences as well.

Where?

Go to either the Help menu on Windows, or the InDesign menu on Mac (and I still want to know which one you use) and hold cown the Ctrl or Cmd key, respectively, while you choose About InDesign. Tellus the full version number you see in the upper left of the dialog.

The first thing you need to do is update to the 7.0.4 patch. PDF export was buggy in the initial release.

No when I open Indesign up now I'm getting a spinning wheel then having to force quit

I can reopen after the force quit work on one document make a pdf now when I open another document I get the spinning wheel. Maybe I'm better to reload Indesign

It really would help if you told us the OS, but I'm surmising it's some version of OS X...

your hang problem might be SING. YOu can try this: SING Removal

Please see Adobe Forums: InDesign CS5.5 Not Responding for directions to to produce a Hang report, then a forced crash and report, and put both of them on Pastebin.com, not here, and put links to both of them here. We may be able to pin down the problem from the reports.

I'm about to quit for the day, so either someone else will help you, or I'll pick up again in the morning.

Ok I reinstalled Indesign updated reinstalled suitcase as well. But now I can open maybe 2 to 3 files before it crashes. It was crashing when I made PDFS now its crashing when I just open the documents.

Your crash report is not typical of SING, and doesn't look like anything I've seen before, but strikes me as a problem with the recovery data from a previous crash. Did you run these after a crash with a file open?

What happens if you empty the InDesign Recovery folder?

What version of Suitcase are you running? Try removing the autoactivation plugin from ID.

Good morning Peter, I'm running Suitcase Fusion 3. Also where do I find the Indesign Recovery folder did a find couldn't fine it.

The recovery folder should be in your user library. Do you have the latest patch for Suitcase?

I don't recall for sure, but there may have been some capmaptibility issues with version 3 and CS5. version 4 would probably do better. I owuld definitely try removing the autoactivation plugin from ID.

I removed the autoactivation plugin and I emptied the Indesign Recovery File. Same thing happening I can open up one document make a pdf. Then when I open another it crashes.

I updated the patch for Suitacase Fusion 3 as well. Do you think its best to update to Suitcase Fusion 4?

Upgraded to Suitcase Fusion 4 but still crashing can work on one document close open another then it crashes

Yesterday when I installed Suitcase I made new preferences for Indesign and it was working ok. I could open a couple of files and make pdfs, now its doing it again just crashing

Looks pretty similar to the last report, but crashed in a different thread. Did you empty the Recovery folder again before this crash, or is this the first crash after a few successes?

I'm wondering at this point what else might be installed that could be conflicting...

OK. Its important that we get the report from the initial crash, not from a crash when you try to restart after.

Are you using Suitcase Fusion 3? If so, try disabling the plug in which automatically opens the fonts in your doc, and open them manually.

I had the same problem a few months ago and it worked for me

Is this what you mean. I'm running Suitcase Fusion 4. I took out the font activation. Still the same. Can work on one document make a pdf. Then I reopen the document try to make the pdf and it crashes.

Did you actually remove the auto-activation plugin, or just disable it? Do you have the latest patch for Suitcase?

Check at extensis, but I think there are several patches by now.

That link tells you how to clear the dyld cache from Terminal. You might rather run a utility like Cocktail and let it clear all the caches.

Ran the cocktail utility clear the caches. Still not working this time opened a document worked on it. Closed it went to open another and it crashed.
Can't find a Fusion 4 patch.

That last log is a hang, not a crash.

What else, no matter how innocuoous you might think it is, do you have running?

I can't answer that. You'd get new features, but are they features you want? I can't guarantee it will solve the problem, either.

You could try the 30 day trial....

I usually have running Firefox, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator, but since I've been having troubles I'm only trying to have one program ie Indesign etc.
