client ability to edit text in PDF?

Sep 20, 2012 1:28 PM

I design real estate fliers, and the agents want to be able to make changes to the price or minor things in the description. Thus far I have been exporting the pdf and adding the text into a form field so the agent has info in there, but then can change it later as needed. I can't figure out how to do this using the new Forms Panel in ID CS 6. I export as an interactive PDF, and the text boxes are there, but the text I typed in ID is not there. I also can't figure out how to change the appearance of the items to be typed in the form fields, so even if I just add the text in Acrobat, the formatting is all wrong. I'm having to still do it the "stupid" way by adding my text boxes in Acrobat every time anyway. Thanks for any help!

InDesign's forms capabilities are far from mature. Lots of things still need to be done in Acrobat.

To be fair, limitations in forms come from two directions. Not only did the ID team have limited time to add form support, but the actual code that does the work comes mostly from the Acrobat team, and they aren't as open and giving as we all might like.
