Blu-ray Write Speed Settings

I am running Encore 5.0 on Windows 7 and I am able to make good Blu-ray discs using my new ASUS Black 12X BD-R unit.

The problem is that I am susposed to get 12X speed but Encore allows me to select 4X.

Where is the problem?

    Are you able to burn at 12x with another program, such as imgburn?

     

    What speed are your disks rated?

    I am sorry, the blu-ray discs are rated at 4x.

    I guess I assumed that the discs and the burners were the same.

    After doing a little recearch it looks like speeds are never going to get much higer than 6X.
