Scary Snakes - Log Lady - Big Green Frog

Sep 18, 2012 5:20 PM

Maybe this can be the repository for all "stuff" in this forum, sort of like the "Joke Thread - Version 19" is in the old PS Lounge.

Here, Rod can discuss golf, John T. can post of his DIY projects, and Mitchell can rag on Zonies. Others can discuss their cats, their dogs, their new automobiles, or even their iPhone 5, should they ever get it.

Every time I think of "sheep" I recall this particular nightmare in my life...

Was in Wyoming literally in the middle of nowhere...no roads, nothing...just miles of sagebrush and prarie and some dried up grass stuff.

I was repairing ( with soldering iron connected to my truck battery ) a siesmograph "cable" ( 220 foot long cable with 50 pairs of wires in it ). Somebody drove over it and so I had to cut off the bad stuff and re-connect the wires.  This sounds easy but they are so thin ( the wires) there's no color code...they only have enamel coating to insulate them...so this gets tricky...

I used a board with nails driven into it ( 100 nails on each end of board ), and used those nails to pair up the correct wires before soldering them and using shrink tubing to insulate the splice. Won't go into trick of finding continuity of wires etc to get the right pairs.

Anyway, this operation took hours , literally, and I was so engrossed, sitting on the ground, with my bead focused on my little chore...and I head this sorta " munching sound "....and then a BAAAAAA sound... and I looked up from my work.

I was surrounded by a sea of sheep...thousands of sheep !  Millions of them !  How in the world they snuck up on me so quietly is totally beyond me...it was eirie to say the least.  Way off in the distance there was one rider on a horse....

The sheep gave me about 30 feet of "space" around me....like a school of fish does when you swim through them ?... so I went back to work on my little wires....

That night when showering at the camp we had for that job ( trailers with bunks, shower trailer, chow trailer etc ) I discovered I had about 3 thousand ticks on me !  TICKS !  With their ugly little heads stuck inside of ME !!!!   AAAAAAAAAAAA  !!!!!!!

What a nightmare !  My first thought was " How can ticks jump 30 feet from sheep to ME ? "  And my second thought was " Oh Oh, I'm gonna die from Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever ! "  AAAAAAAAAAAAAA   !!!!

    Was not fun....

For many years after that I kept thinking I had a tick on me somewhere...with every itch I got.

    SHEEP... NO THANKS !

Does that mean that you are not going to be camping out in front of the Apple Store?

If I ever do, it won't be to give them money.  And you'd probably see me on the news afterwards.
