What is the correct location for libflashplayer.so in Kubuntu/Ubuntu?

I'm running Kubuntu 12.10 and Firefox, and for a while Flash wasn't working at all.  Downloading

install_flash_player_11_linux.x86_64.tar.gz or its 32-bit counterpart aind installing them didn't help.  Nor did Flash-Aid.  Nor did installing flashplugin-installer using Synaptic.   I finally got it working, mostly, by installing libflashplayer.so in three different locations:

  /usr/lib/firefox/plugins

  /usr/lib/firefox-addons/plugins

  /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins

But which one(s) of these is actually necessary?

More generally, what is the relationship between "mozilla" files and "firefox" files?
